A Simple Christmas Card Hack to Connect with More People This Holiday Season

As real estate agents, we’re in the people business, and the holidays are the perfect time to strengthen connections with those we encounter regularly. One of my favorite traditions each year is sending out Christmas cards—not just as a gesture of goodwill but as a way to genuinely connect with my community. Here’s a little hack I use to take this tradition to the next level, and I think you’ll love it.

The Tradition

Every year, I order hundreds of Christmas cards. Each card is hand-addressed, includes a personal note, and is signed by me. Why? Because I want the recipients to know it’s not just another generic card—it’s from me. This little effort goes a long way in making people feel valued.

The Hack

Here’s where the magic happens: I order an extra 50 or so cards with envelopes, and I turn these into mobile gratitude gifts. Here’s how:

  1. Add a Little Extra Cheer
Inside each card, I include a $5 lottery ticket and my business card. It’s a fun, lighthearted way to spread holiday joy. Who doesn’t get excited about the chance to win big?

  2. Carry Them with You
I keep these cards in my car or truck so they’re always on hand.

  3. Think Local
As I go about my day, I give them to the people I see regularly but might not normally connect with. For example:

    • The teller at the bank who knows your name.

    • The server at your favorite restaurant who remembers your usual order.

    • The receptionist at your doctor’s office who greets you with a smile.

    • The hardworking employee scrubbing the grill of your car at the car wash.

These are the unsung heroes of our daily lives, and a small gesture of appreciation can mean the world to them.

Why This Works

First, it’s a way to express genuine gratitude. Second, it’s a chance to subtly share what you do for a living without coming across as pushy or salesy. The combination of a kind gesture and your business card ensures they’ll remember you—and associate you with positive feelings.

Make It Your Own

This hack is simple, affordable, and most importantly, meaningful. It’s not about spending a fortune; it’s about showing gratitude and creating moments of connection.

As real estate agents, we thrive on relationships. This small habit can help you build and strengthen those relationships—one Christmas card at a time. So, order those cards, stock up on some lotto tickets, and spread a little extra cheer this holiday season!

Who knows? You might even help someone win big. 🎄✨
