RANDOM THINGS OF INTEREST

  • LinkedIn has over 930 million users, but only 1% actively create content. That’s a massive opportunity to stand out. #justsaying

  • Have you heard of Bluesky? Social media platform Bluesky has gained more than 700,000 new users in the last week since the US election, largely due to North American users seeking to escape X. As a result, brands have an opportunity to start over on Bluesky with new, eager audiences. Follow Me Here with 14.5 million users worldwide, Bluesky can definitely be a useful network to add to your social strategy.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

❝

Success isn’t about sticking to Plan A; it’s about thriving when life throws you Plan Z. When the path gets blocked, you don’t quit—you bulldoze, climb, or forge a new trail. The obstacle isn’t the end, it’s the proving ground.

THIS WEEK’S TIP
Always Check the URL

Mattel accidentally linked a porn site on Wicked doll packaging.

Yup, big mistake. In my office we have a rule… nothing client facing goes out without two sets of eyes on it first. The maker completes the project, and finds two people to read it and check links. Each of them sign their name to the top of the document and then we release to the public. This is a non-negotiable I highly recommend.

Speaking of Mattel and “Wicked”

NBC Universal reached out to partner with my community brand for the 4th time this year. We were given an entire movie theater to fill up FREE for 100 of our guests. This makes entertaining clients and agents on our team super easy. How did we get the partnership? We have a fantastic newsletter for our community in Fresno called “The FresYes Insider” We shared the information with several companies and they responded with offers to get in front of our audience. Want more information on how to do this yourself?  Let me know here:

If I held a workshop on how to build a community newsletter that created partnerships with Fortune 500 companies would you be interested?

SOCIAL MEDIA TIP
The #1 reason we drag our feet instead of putting ourselves out there:

We're scared of running out of ideas.
↳ So we're scared of repeating ourselves.
↳ And so we're scared of boring our people.

I hear a version of this from most folks I advise. Here's what I tell them.

FIRST: No, people won’t unfollow you just because you repeated something. In fact, the opposite is true.

Yes, some folks might already know what you’re saying, but hearing it in your voice helps it stick.
Yes, others may have known it before, but let’s be real—they probably forgot.
Yes, new faces show up in your world every day, totally clueless, and they need to hear your message.

And yes, even the people you admire repeat themselves all the time (trust me, it’s more common than you think—hang tight, we’ll dive into that below).

SECOND: Once you discover a message that hits home!

Step 1: Don’t take it for granted. Treat it like gold and nurture it.
Step 2: Find 1,000 different ways to deliver that message:
2a. Switch up the formats—think listicles, quick sketches, personal stories, practical advice…
2b. Play with the depth—zoom in on a specific detail, zoom out for the big picture, or connect it to related topics.
Step 3: Keep going. Even if your team jokes that you sound like a broken record or your accountant begs for something fresh—stay the course.

Leadership Lessons - How to Give Feedback That Drives Results

Want your feedback to inspire action and align your team with your shared goals? Here's the key: make sure every piece of feedback connects directly to the bigger picture.

Let’s say your team is focused on improving their listing presentations to attract more sellers. Instead of offering generic praise like, “Good job on the market analysis,” elevate the impact by tying it to the goal: “Thank you for that thorough market analysis—your insights give our sellers confidence that we’re pricing their home competitively, which helps us win more listings.”

This approach reinforces the why behind their effort. It not only motivates but also deepens their understanding of how their work contributes to the team's success.

The lesson? Feedback is more powerful when it’s purpose-driven. Whether your team is mastering scripts, fine-tuning marketing strategies, or nailing follow-up calls, connect their efforts to the results you’re collectively aiming for. It turns simple praise into meaningful progress.

Bonus tip for those of you with Remote workers:

Does your remote team feel disjointed? Try this.

As “unproductive” as the ‘water cooler chats’ may seem, they help colleagues from other departments get a better idea of the ins and outs of the company.

To foster this in a remote team, give all employees a chance to chat with someone from a different team each week (you can do this through a Slack plugin).

WOW OF THE WEEK
Would you buy this? Household chore robots are coming…

Imagine a robot that can fold laundry, load the dishwasher, and even tidy up a messy table! That’s not sci-fi anymore, thanks to a startup called Physical Intelligence. They’re teaching robots to perform a variety of household tasks using AI models similar to the ones behind tools like ChatGPT. These robots are smart, adaptive, and even a little quirky—sometimes hilariously overfilling egg cartons or tossing boxes. The future of home automation just got way cooler!

COACHING TIP
Real Estate Coaching Lesson:

The 8 Truths of Winning Clients

Truth #1: They’re in a rush.
Clients think they’re always in a hurry. Your job? Adapt. Fit seamlessly into their hectic schedules.

Truth #2: They crave control.
Humans love structure. Give clients the illusion of control by offering choices and empowering them.

Truth #3: They’re not loyal to you.
Clients will shop around. Focus on expanding your reach rather than clinging to exclusivity.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
Want to practice with the pros? Here's your chance!

Picture this: You're sitting across from a potential client. They're on the fence about buying. What do you say? If you hesitated, you're not alone. But what if you never had to hesitate again?

That's where The SOS Dojo RED comes in.

This isn't your typical "sit and listen" seminar.

FINAL THOUGHT
This is Separation Season. The gap between the doers and the drifters is widening, and now’s your time to decide which side you’re on. While others are easing off, you’ve got to press harder. Double down on your prospecting, check in with your clients, and stay in front of your sphere—family, friends, and neighbors included.

If you’re truly proud of what you do, showing up should feel second nature. And let’s be real: confidence breeds business. Show me an agent without deals, and I’ll show you someone who’s forgotten the power of disciplined action. So, embrace the grind, stand tall, and separate yourself from the pack.
